2020 NC Top Tech Challenge Registration and Sponsorship Opportunities

The NC Top Tech Challenge is a state competition that offers technicians the opportunity to show off their skills, gives them the opportunity to represent their company, meet like-minded professionals in their field and offers our fleets, dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors the opportunity to build relationships with one another.

As a bonus this year, contestants will be able to go through 3 training sessions on Saturday morning. Any contestant that chooses to attend a session and answer any questions about the training will be awarded bonus points. There will be potential to attend all 3 sessions should the contestant choose to do so. Points will be added to their master score. Bonus points will not be variable and if achieved will be 10 points per session attended.

The first day of the event consist of a written test, followed by the completion of a series of individual skills stations. The second day of the event will be a rotating technician training fair, and conclude with a banquet and award ceremony on Saturday afternoon. Each technician receives one banquet ticket with their registration; additional tickets for spouses, family or company representatives may be purchased. Everyone attending the banquet must have a ticket. 

Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each track; truck and trailer. Student winners are also awarded. 1st place winners will also win an all expense paid trip to represent North Carolina at the 2020 National Skills Competition (TMC SuperTech), or TMC FutureTech for students,  in Raleigh, NC on September 13-17.

Cost for technicians is $75, students at a North Carolina Community College are free. Students are limited to 2 per school, may be subject to change.

Eligibility: Contestants must reside in the state of North Carolina and be employed by a member of the North Carolina Trucking Association or be enrolled as a student at a state sponsored college or university that has a transportation program. Contestant must sign and return agreement and release form upon registration.

Attire: Each contestant must wear appropriate long pants and work shoes meeting industry safety standards. Official contestant shirts will be given out at check-in and must be worn during the competition. Other safety related items such as safety glasses and any needed tools, manuals and equipment will be provided as needed by each individual station.
